TWICE 'Feel Special' Teasers Are Not Showing Us The Full Picture
Yes it’s true. Upon writing this post, JYPE has released both Nayeon and Jeongyeon’s teasers for Twice’s new comeback—'Feel Special.' While similar in concept, the two have very different sounding background tracks.
For any K-Pop group, it is very typical to release a trailer or teaser for their upcoming album/comeback. Twice is no exception, and they have participated in this form of promotion since they first debuted. Twice’s teasers are special because sometimes they do not accurately represent the song they are promoting.
A perfect example of this would be the teasers they put out for 'What Is Love?'. The background music does not accurately reflect the song at hand. In fact, it is not even close to sounding like the actual song. See that teaser below.
They also did this for their TT comeback. TT’s teasers are very different from the actual M/V.
Why Is This Important?
We have not heard what the actual song sounds like yet! For the 'YES OR YES' and 'FANCY' teasers, they put the music on the forefront of the promotions. For 'Feel Special,' it seems like they will release the true sound of the song in fragments.
Released in fragments indeed! These teasers are not trying to mislead audiences by giving them something different, rather they are giving audiences small portions at a time.
This theory proves to be true, because when you put Nayeon and Jeongyeon’s teasers together, they make a more full sounding song.
In a VLIVE, Nayeon said the new song makes her feel a variety of emotions. Between the two teasers alone, it is clear that the song will have many different layers to it.
Here is what the tracks sound like when layered on top of each other.
We are most likely going to get teasers for each of the members. Each teaser will probably show a different side to the song. Twice said that 'Feel Special' will sound different than what they’ve done before. When placing the tracks on top each other, it’s clear we have not been seeing the whole picture, and that’s what makes it even more enticing!
