The Boba Culture’s “20 Twice Songs That All Fans Must Know”
20) 1 TO 10 (TWICEcoaster: LANE1)
Promoted alongside TT for all of their comeback stages, '1 To 10' is one of those songs that many Once know by heart. '1 To 10' slaps hard, but Twice's vocals sound very innocent on the track. It’s really just a song about having someone on your mind all the time, and sometimes, that’s all it takes to make a great song.
19) TURTLE (twicetagram)
'Turtle' is a Twice song that doesn’t view love like their other songs might entail. This song is about liking someone who is growing cold towards you. On top of all that, 'Turtle' has a real jazzy vibe to it, distinguishing it from many of Twice’s other songs.
18) STUCK (Summer Nights)
Serving as their closing song during the TWICELIGHTS World Tour, 'Stuck' is one of the happiest sad songs Twice has to offer. It’s literally about being “stuck” on someone, and it’s the perfect way to close a three hour concert. 'Stuck' invokes the feeling of missing someone, and that’s exactly how you’d feel after the concert.
17) ONE IN A MILLION (TWICEcoaster: LANE2)
Every time Twice introduces themselves, they always lead off by saying “one in a million.” 'One In A Million' is a pop ballad that Twice has used as a closing song for many of their concerts. There is nothing more iconic than hearing Jeongyeon hit that high note towards the end of the song.
16) Candy Pop (BDZ)
'Candy Pop' is the quintessential bubblegum pop song. Aside from the song being a never ending fountain of joy, its music video provides even more smiles. Partially directed by anime director, Takahiko Kyōgoku, the M/V shows Twice living inside of an animated candy world; and has them meet someone from the human world.
15) LOOK AT ME (twicetagram)
“Nal barabarabwa” is one of the most under-appreciated lines from a Twice song ever. 'Look At Me' is a fast paced color pop song with that signature Twice vibe. On top of all that, this song was co-written by former Wonder Girls member: Woo Hyerim.
14) BDZ (BDZ)
The title track on Twice’s first Japanese album, BDZ is a song made for the fan chants. When this song is performed live, Once in the crowd are supposed to chant along to the “let’s go, let’s go” part of the song, as they swing their Candy Bongs. This song was produced the legendary producer (and Twice’s boss) Park Jin-young, or more commonly known as—JYP.
13) Happy Happy (Happy Happy)
Representing the “day time” concept of Twice’s 2019 Japanese comeback, 'Happy Happy' is an extremely happy song. It’s a song fitting for the summer, and it’s impossible to be sad while listening to it. Its M/V is one of Twice’s most colorful, and it features the girls interacting with animated objects!
12) Breakthrough (Breakthrough)
Representing the night time concept of their 2019 Japanese comeback, 'Breakthrough' capitalizes on a more chic version of Twice. This comes after the reinvention of their image that took place during early 2019. 'Breakthrough' is a color pop banger that focuses on more mature shades.
11) Like OHH AHH (The Story Begins)
'Like OHH AHH' is Twice’s debut song. This song even got Twice nominated for a Golden Disc Award back in 2016. Their first mini-album was called “The Story Begins,” and this song definitely marks the beginning of Twice’s journey. You can really tell that JYP did not know where to start with Twice in terms of concept, so its M/V is quite strange. Nonetheless, it will go down as one of the most important K-Pop songs of all time. This song put Twice on the map.
10) SIGNAL (Signal)
In the M/V for 'Signal', all the members of Twice spend time trying to get the attention of a blue alien who just can’t catch a clue. Each member has a specific power, and the video spends time showing those powers off. 'Signal' is one of Twice’s most successful songs, as it won Song Of The Year and Best Dance Performance at MAMA 2017. This song was also produced by Park Jin-young.
9) KNOCK KNOCK (TWICEcoaster: LANE2)
Chronologically, 'Knock Knock' is supposed to take place before the song 'TT'. Both of the M/V’s are intertwined as they detail the story of Twice receiving a magical book, and getting locked out of their house. The M/V then ends with Twice knocking on their own front door, only for two kids inside the now cursed home, to hear it. Aside from the storyline weaved into the M/V, this song functions as one of Twice’s encore songs at TWICELIGHTS.
8) Dance The Night Away (Summer Nights)
Twice has many iconic choreographies, but there is none that could make a crowd sweat more than 'Dance The Night Away'. This song is brighter than the sun during summer, and it utilizes a variety horns and synths. This song is cut out for fun in the summer time, and the M/V shows just that. 'Dance The Night Away' is a Twice classic.
7) Heart Shaker (Merry & Happy)
'Heart Shaker' is the lead single off of “Merry & Happy”—the Twice Christmas album. Although 'Heart Shaker' is not a Christmas song, it somehow feels unique to wintertime. This song peaked at number one on both the Gaon and Kpop Hot 100 charts respectively. The success of the song didn’t end with just great chart positions, but 'Heart Shaker' also brought home a Golden Disc Award and nine music show wins.
6) YES or YES (Yes Or Yes)
You got two choices. Yes or yes? 'Yes or Yes' represents a split in Twice’s discography. This song is asking someone to say “yes” to a confession of love. Twice topped the Gaon chart in South Korea, and it went Platinum. The choreography for this song is one of Twice's most intricate, and it’s easy for people to do. Yes or Yes’ concept is different than what Twice had been doing before the song’s release, and it sets the tone for what was to come next.
5) FANCY (Fancy You)
'Fancy' ushered in a new era of Twice. Not only does this song sound very different from their previous outings, but the whole “Fancy You” album is nuanced from their entire discography. It provided a new light to view The Nation’s Girl Group in, and it broke their own “24 hour view record” on YouTube. Its M/V features the group in a new style, and it shows that Twice was ready to tackle new concepts. 'Fancy' is an electro-pop ride written by the legendary Black Eyed Pilseung, and it’s a bold look into a new version of Twice.
4) TT (TWICEcoaster: LANE1)
Easily one of Twice’s most infectious songs, 'TT' topped the charts upon released in Korea. Produced by Black Eyed Pilseung, its beat is really jumpy and synth heavy. Almost reminiscent of a Hip-Hop song at some parts, 'TT' still manages to be a bright colored Twice song. Not only is this song iconic for its lyrics, but its choreography is easily recognizable. The signature “TT” fingers took the world by storm, and they have become synonymous with Twice as a whole.
3) What Is Love? (What Is Love?)
Produced by JYP himself, 'What Is Love?' won Song Of The Year at MAMA 2018. The M/V shows Twice in a variety of different movies and movie scenes about love, and the lyrics show that Twice is curious to learn about it. 'What Is Love?' views the idea of love with much innocence, and Twice does an excellent job of portraying that. This song is the full K-Pop package as it has a catchy beat, memorable lyrics, and fun choreography. Try being sad while listening to this one—I bet you can’t.
2) LIKEY (twicetagram)
When you hear those opening horns, you know exactly what song is about to start playing. 'Likey' is an iconic K-Pop song because it represents everything that bubblegum pop is supposed to be. It’s upbeat, and it’s happy. It has lyrics that will get stuck in your head even if you don’t like the song. Years into the future, when the face of K-Pop is completely different; people will look back at songs from the third generation, and 'Likey' will always be somewhere towards the top of the list. It tackles a surprisingly complex subject with always having to look perfect for the camera; and while it is a happy song, it exudes this sentiment of wanting to express something deeper. 'Likey' will go down as one of the greatest K-Pop songs of all time, and that is why Twice fans have to know it.
1) CHEER UP (Page Two)
If you have ever seen Twice perform this song live, you would know just how loud the crowd can get while listening to 'Cheer Up'. Each of Twice’s songs are unique and great for their own reasons, but 'Cheer Up' is honestly the Once anthem. There is nothing more iconic than Sana’s “shy, shy, shy,” and the choreography that coincides with it. As it is a major crowd favorite in South Korea, 'Cheer Up' won several music shows, and even took home Song Of The Year at MAMA 2016. This song is Twice’s second major release, and it started them on the path of their signature “color-pop” genre. 'Cheer Up' is the Twice song. There’s something special about a crowd of 12,000+ Once all screaming “cheer up baby” louder than the speakers. That is why this song is a “must know” for Once all around the world.
