LOONA already has one of the best KPOP albums of 2020; here's why

ORBITS all over the world rejoiced on February 5 6PM KST as LOONA released their new mini-album '#'.

The mini-album contains six songs total (really only five), and each song comes packed new and upgraded Loona sounds.

The whole album sounds like a beam of light, coming in the form of 11 girls (yes ALL 11). LOONA exemplifies mastery in the type of pop they are making, and they also dip their feet into other music genres with '#'. It’s truly a sight to see and hear.

'#' is anchored by the title song 'So What' (with the intro to the album being called '#'), and has the side tracks 'Number 1', 'Oh (Yes I am)', 'Ding Ding Dong (땡땡땡)' and '365'.

Below Is The Boba Culture’s 12oz (short) review of each of the songs & Twitter reactions to '#'

So What

So What is very different from other songs that LOONA has in their discography. It’s powerful, and it’s represented by the color red. Conceptually, it’s nuanced from what many other groups are doing, and even LOONA themselves. They are some bad women, I mean are you seeing that thumbnail? It’s mean and aggressive, but it’s still the LOONA you know and love.

It’s a different look at the girls, but it’s one that you can’t keep your eyes off of. BURN YOURSELF.

Number 1

Honestly, a song like this could be nominated for bop of the century. It’s light, and has silky smooth vocals that go in and out of highs and lows with ease. 'Number 1' is a really hard song not to bop your head to. It has 80’s drum kits, a CATCHY hook, and an elegantly colorful vibe.

'Number 1' is my favorite song off of this album.

Oh (Yes I am)

Another strong showing of light from LOONA. When you listen to this song, it’s almost like you can see different colors of light shooting at you. It’s glitchy, yet it’s rhythmic, and has a borderline ASMR-like opening (the vocals are that pleasing).

This song could fit on any runway fashion show.

Ding Ding Dong

This song falls right under the same category as many of the other legendary LOONA bops. It’s really poppy, and it has that signature LOONA feel to it. When you start this song, it’s like you are falling into a world of bubblegum.

땡땡땡.

365

This song is a LOONA slow-rock ballad to close off the mini-album. In a way, it’s almost like their way of saying thank you for listening, so they sing you a farewell until next time. '365' has major “end of concert vibes.”

It’ll make you feel like you need to give the album one more listen.

With many groups and companies already jumping at the chance to release new music in 2020, LOONA released a mini-album that shows exactly why they need more attention in Korea, and abroad. They are a very talented group of girls, who are making music that has chart topping capabilities, and I believe that we should be seeing more of them.

Orbits were going crazy over the new comeback on Twitter after the album dropped. #LOONA_SOWHAT was trending worldwide, and here’s what a few Orbits had to say.

#StanLoona exists for a reason. Have you stanned Loona yet? You really should.
